The Second Sunday of Easter

Preparation for Worship

"Prayer is the only entryway into genuine self-knowledge. It is also the main way we experience deep change - the reordering of our loves." - Tim Keller

"Such a pervasive call to prayer as we see in the New Testament is not the stuff of impersonal achievement and raw discipline, but intimate relationship. It has underneath it not an iron human will, but an extraordinarily attentive divine Father who is eager to “give good things to those who ask.” - David Mathis

*Call to Worship
from Revelation 15:3-4
Rev. Andrés Zelaya
Assistant Pastor

Minister: Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty!
People: Just and true are your ways, King of the ages.
Minister: Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name?
People: For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you!

*Arise, Shine, for Your Light Has Come

Arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of God is on you.
Arise, see though the earth grows dark, that the Lord will arise upon you,
The Lord will arise upon you.

Nations will come to your light, lif up your eyes and see.
We'll gather together and come to you
And your love will be all that we know,
And your love will be all that we know.

Arise, come to the open gates for the Father is welcoming you.
Fear not, for the Lord brings peace and redemption to all who believe,
And redemption to all who believe. (Chorus)

Scripture Reading
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
